Main text - ‘Desperate housewives’
Title - ‘To what extent are women represented subordinate to men, with particular references to desperate housewives’.(Creator -Marc Cherry)
Hypothesis - The position of men and women have changed as now both roles are becoming more symmetrical as women have more independence as they didn’t before.
M – Characters are girl, set in working class environment
I – Feminist - the new independent women where is she is seen more powerful and strong.
G - Drama, comedy, romance, mystery
R – The representation of women has been shown to be ‘sexy’ independent women whom seem to be dominating their marriage.
A- Primary audiences are young women whom aspire to be like the independent women, the secondary audience can be seen as men to see the sexuality of women.
I – Channel 4
N – Looking at the lives of five different women who are all best friends, they are all married the dram soap shows their different lives of being married and the struggles that come with the whole ideology.
Wider context
S - society has become more acceptable in terms of women now working and being independent on a whole
H- the representation of women may seem changed but it could be argues that it still appears to be the same as historical period
